Initiative For
Girls
Program Description
The Initiative For Girls is a program designed
specifically for youth ages 11-17. The
program focuses on health, safety, leadership development and peer
education. The Initiative For Girls
offers youth opportunities to talk with college students and experts in the
community; learn about health and safety issues as they pertain to girls;
recognize and build upon their talents and assets; and practice leadership skills
by planning and leading girl-centered activities and serving as peer educators.
The
Initiative For Girls puts out a calendar listing the upcoming schedule. The group meets bi-weekly during
the school year and plans special projects and activities in the summer.
The
Initiative For Girls is sponsored through grants from the United Way of Knox County and the Galesburg Community Foundation. The
program is facilitated by Program Director, Ashley German-Cooper. For
more information, call Ashley at 309-343-6162.
